Ukraine’s embassy thanks Montenegro after Montenegrin diplomacy confirmed the mission in Kyiv will continue its work

Ukraine’s Embassy in Montenegro has thanked the Montenegrin Ministry of Foreign Affairs after the ministry confirmed that Montenegro’s Embassy will continue to work in Kyiv, as Vijesti reports. “Thank you very much @MFA_MNE,” the Ukrainian embassy wrote on the social network X.

According to Vijesti, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted today after the European Union’s ambassador to Ukraine, Katarina Maternova, stated that all embassies of EU member states will continue to work in Kyiv, despite Russian threats.

Russia on Saturday again called on diplomats and foreign nationals in Kyiv to leave the city, warning that its forces would continue to carry out “massive retaliatory strikes” on the Ukrainian capital, Vijesti writes.

“Montenegro joins the joint statement of the diplomatic missions in Kyiv, expressing concern over the threat by Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to diplomats and foreign nationals in Ukraine. Russia is bound by the Vienna Convention and international humanitarian law. Russia will bear exclusive responsibility for any eventual harm. We remain in Kyiv,” Montenegro’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today on X, according to Vijesti.

Podgorica’s stance comes at a moment of heightened tensions over the security of diplomatic missions in the Ukrainian capital, where Western countries have reaffirmed that they will not withdraw their diplomats.
