Djokovic confirms Beijing return after 11 years — at the tournament he has never lost

Novak Djokovic has confirmed he will return to Beijing after an 11-year absence from the Chinese capital. He announced the news through a message in Chinese and English on Instagram, delighting his fans.

Djokovic will take part in the ATP 500 tournament (September 30 – October 11) in which he has not lost a single match. “I am very happy to announce that after many years I am returning to Beijing for the China Open. I am very excited to return and play in front of all of you at the National Tennis Center, one of the most beautiful tennis venues, a place where I have extraordinary memories and great successes during my career. I want to thank all the Chinese fans for their love and long-standing support over the years. I can’t wait to play in front of you,” Djokovic said in English.

At this ATP 500 tournament, Djokovic has participated six times and each time won the title — in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 — with 29 triumphs in total and no defeats.

The return to Beijing marks an important stop in his second-half-of-the-season calendar, at a tournament where his record remains unbeaten.
