Election of Serbia’s new football federation president may be pushed to November
The election of the new president of the Football Federation of Serbia (FSS) is expected to be postponed to November, separate from the founding assembly of 17 October – according to HotSport, which cites Sport Klub. If confirmed, it would be the fourth consecutive postponement of the electoral process, after the past deadlines of 24 July, September and October.
The founding assembly is held on 17 October at 11:00 in Stara Pazova, but the election of the new chief could take place on a separate date, HotSport writes, referring to Sport Klub. The official decision on the new date is expected from the Emergency Affairs Committee, even before the Serbian national team’s match in Germany.
The FSS announced elections for the 2026–2030 term on 19 March, while the regional bodies have already completed their processes and the new composition of the Assembly has been formed. But current president Dragan Džajić, in office since March 2023, has lost his delegate mandate – Crvena zvezda replaced him with Zvezdan Terzić as delegate – which practically excludes him from the race for another term, even though he officially remains in office until the new leadership is elected, HotSport notes.
So far there are no confirmed candidates for the federation’s helm: various names have circulated publicly in recent days, but nothing is official. A possible postponement to November is expected to give clubs and delegates more time to position themselves, in one of the most institutionally unclear moments for Serbian football in recent years.
