FOCUS – Ukraine uses robotic, AI-guided weapons against Russian drones
KYIV, 5 October /ATSH-AFP/ – Ukraine has begun using heavy machine guns mounted on robotic frames, controlled by artificial intelligence, to intercept Russian drones, including jet-engine models.
The spokesman of the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuri Ihnat, said today that the robotic frames are being installed on bridges so that they can be used for air defence.
According to him, these systems have already managed to shoot down several jet-engine drones near Kyiv.
These drones are considered harder to destroy than traditional models, because of their greater speed.
The robotic systems use sensors and algorithms to detect and track aerial targets, while the turret automatically directs the weapon toward the drone.
This can enable a faster reaction to targets flying at high speed.
The use of these systems points to the growing role of automation and artificial intelligence in the war against drones, one of the most important aspects of the modern war in Ukraine.
