Gajić: People’s Party to Run in Elections in Coalition with Nestorović’s “We – the Power of the People” and Two Small Parties

“The People’s Party will run in the elections in coalition with Branimir Nestorović’s party ‘We – the Power of the People,’ as we announced seven days ago. The coalition will also include two small parties, one of them a minority party,” People’s Party leader Vladimir Gajić told the Serbian newspaper Danas.

Gajić added that the coalition is not late for the election campaign: “We have enough time. We are not rushing; we are organizing.” Danas could not confirm whether Aleksandar Vulin’s Movement of Socialists is one of the small parties in the coalition.

In the past two days Nestorović’s party faced a serious split precisely because of possible coalitions. First, part of the “We – the Power of the People” presidency accused the party leader of making a coalition with Vulin behind their backs, sponsored by the BIA, and of not answering his phone.

Nestorović then organized an extraordinary party assembly where, according to Slobodan Ilić, the rebellious presidency members were expelled. According to him, residents brought from “Ćacilend” voted for their expulsion. Serbia’s parliamentary elections are held on October 25.
