GERMANY – Secret Meeting of U.S., Israeli and Arab Military Leaders on the War with Iran
Senior military leaders from the United States of America, Israel and seven Arab countries held a secret meeting in Germany last week, where they discussed the war with Iran and the security situation in the Middle East, “Axios” reported.
The meeting was organized by the commander of the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), Admiral Brad Cooper.
Participants included the chiefs of staff of Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan and Egypt.
The meeting had not been publicly announced by the participating governments.
CENTCOM later confirmed that it had organized in Germany a planned conference with senior military leaders from eight countries, where opportunities for strengthening cooperation in Middle East security were discussed.
According to “Axios” reporting, the discussions focused on the war with Iran and broader regional tensions.
CENTCOM Commander Cooper conveyed to participants the message that the United States of America does not plan to withdraw from the region, despite Iranian attacks on U.S. bases in the Middle East.
The meeting was also attended by the chief of the General Staff of the Israeli army, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir.
According to Israeli sources cited by “Axios,” Zamir briefed Arab military leaders on Israel’s operations on various fronts.
The meeting represents a rare case of direct communication at this level between Israel and several Arab countries.
Particularly significant is the fact that it was also attended by Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar — countries that have no diplomatic relations with Israel.
According to reports, the discussions also centered on the regional security situation, including threats related to Iran, the Strait of Hormuz and the activity of the Houthi rebels in Yemen and the Red Sea area.
The meeting was not officially presented as the creation of a new military alliance, and it has not been disclosed whether participants reached concrete agreements on joint operations.
CENTCOM described the meeting as a planned conference for strengthening security cooperation.
