Gjeloshaj in Pristina: women’s empowerment is part of Montenegro’s path towards the EU

Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister, Nik Gjeloshaj, took part today in Pristina in the conference “Partnership for Change: Women Transforming Systems”, where the role of women in building peace, security and sustainable development was discussed.

Gjeloshaj said that the empowerment of women and their inclusion in decision-making are also important for the region’s European integration process.

“Montenegro sees regional cooperation as an important part of the path towards European integration. Women must be part of the reflection on security,” Gjeloshaj said, stressing that EU integration is not only a technical process, but is connected with the rule of law, the strengthening of institutions, human rights and democratic standards.

He added that Montenegro remains committed to a safer, democratic, connected and European Western Balkans.
