Government gives the green light to changes to the Specialist Chambers law

The Government approves the assessment on the changes to the Law on the Specialist Chambers

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo held its fourth meeting on Friday, which took place electronically.

At this meeting, the Government approved the decision regarding the request of the Assembly of Kosovo for the Legislative Initiative for “Draft Law No. 11/L-001 on amending and supplementing Law No. 05/L-053 on the Specialist Chambers and the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office”.

According to the decision, the Government will forward to the Assembly the assessment, which includes the legal opinion on the draft law’s compatibility with the European Union acquis, the assessment of the budgetary impact, as well as the legal opinion regarding the content of the draft law.

The Assembly’s request was addressed on September 23, 2026, with protocol number 1108.

This decision comes at a time when changes to the Law on the Specialist Chambers and the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office are being discussed in the Assembly.
