Hearing for Former President Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi Postponed Again; What Their Lawyers Said

The hearing for former president Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi was postponed once again. The cause was once again the absence of one of the members of the judicial panel, Rudina Palloj.

Lawyers for Meta and Kryemadhi were present at the session as members of the public. The head of the judicial panel, Erjon Bani, asked Ilir Meta’s lawyer, Bujar Musta, to declare the reason why he did not want to represent his client, while remaining in the courtroom.

Musta told the court he felt threatened because the National Chamber of Advocates has made two decisions on boycotting sessions and that he risks losing his license if he breaks the boycott.

Bani informed him that the administration of justice is being undermined and that this constitutes a criminal offense, under Article 264 of the Criminal Code, “coercion to take part or not in a strike.”

Meanwhile, Meta said this situation is harming his interests in a judicial process and that the lawyer is in a difficult position because of the license.
