Hita After the Saranda Murder: Focus on Criminal Groups and City Conflicts

State Police Director General, Senior Director Skender Hita, held an analysis session with the structures of the Saranda Police Commissariat, following the serious incident that occurred this morning, in which a 44-year-old was shot dead with a firearm and a 73-year-old, a random passerby, was wounded.

During the analysis, the Director General called for swift and thorough investigations, as well as a comprehensive scan of the operational situation, from identifying the sharpest conflicts down to the smallest ones, identifying individuals with criminal records, as well as the criminal contingent present in the area, including the itinerant one.

He demanded concrete results for documenting today’s serious criminal incident, but also for past incidents.

Hita: “Now that the tourist season is almost over, the focus of our work will be intensifying investigations to document criminal incidents, including those that occurred in past years. Uncompromising strikes against the criminal groups operating in the city and identifying every illegal activity of theirs. I will support you with human resources, creating specialized structures for investigating serious crimes and organized crime, but also with logistical support. What matters is the professional reaction and dedication of the current structures.”

In connection with the incident, checks are also being carried out via drones in various territories in the Saranda and Delvina areas, while the investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecution, continues its work to administer every piece of evidence that will serve the investigation.
