Iran claims it hit a U.S. warship with two missiles near Hormuz — Pentagon denies
Iranian media claim a U.S. warship attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz was hit by two missiles after ignoring warnings, as reported by Al Jazeera.
According to the Fars agency, linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the vessel — whose name was not disclosed — was forced to withdraw Monday from the vicinity of the Iranian port of Jask and “flee”. The U.S. military, in a statement on social media, denied that any of its vessels had been hit.

The claim came hours after the chief of Iran’s joint military command, Major General Ali Abdollahi, warned that U.S. forces would be attacked if they try to enter the Strait of Hormuz. “The armed forces under my command will guard and manage the security of the Strait of Hormuz with full force,” he said, in response to Trump’s announcement Sunday that the U.S. would “lead” blockaded vessels through the strait.
On the diplomatic front, Iran’s Foreign Ministry confirmed Monday that Tehran is reviewing the latest text from Washington, conveyed through Pakistan, but demanded a more “realistic” approach from Trump. Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said that at this stage Tehran would talk “about nothing other than a complete end to the war”.
