Albania closes another EU chapter! The date is revealed, Rama heads to Brussels for the Intergovernmental Conference
Albania is ready to close another chapter towards full membership in the EU.
Diplomatic sources at the European Commission told Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu that October 13 is being discussed, when the next intergovernmental meeting between the EU Presidency and Albania is expected to be held.
“We expect to have another ‘super Tuesday’ on October 13, from which Albania will close another chapter. While Montenegro will be facing the closure of three chapters,” the same source said.
Top Channel has learned that this is Chapter 20, which is linked to Enterprise and Industrial Policy.
So far Albania has provisionally closed the first three chapters of the EU accession negotiations on July 14, 2026. They are: Chapter 25: Science and Research, Chapter 26: Education and Culture, and Chapter 30: External Relations.
From Brussels, three months ago, Prime Minister Edi Rama described the provisional closure of the first three chapters of negotiations with the European Union as another milestone on Albania’s path towards full EU membership.
The publicly stated aim of Prime Minister Edi Rama is for the negotiations to be completed by 2027, in order to achieve full membership by 2030. /TCH
