Kurti: In two days we expect the verdict in The Hague — we believe they will return to their country and families

Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti has spoken about the expected verdict of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague for the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) — Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Rexhep Selimi and Kadri Veseli.

During the Government’s solemn meeting, Kurti said that Kosovo, two days before the verdict is announced, is following the Court’s ruling with attention.

According to him, it is clear to Kosovo that the KLA’s resistance and war were just and liberating, against an occupier who, as he put it, committed war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.

“In two days, all of Kosovo is awaiting the verdict at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague for the leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Rexhep Selimi and Kadri Veseli. For us everything is clear. The people of Kosovo, our resistance and our war were just, liberating, and against an occupier who committed war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide,” he added.

Kurti expressed his belief and hope that the verdict expected to be announced on Wednesday will also be in line with this justice.

“We believe and hope that Wednesday’s verdict will also be in line with this justice — that they return to their country and to their families,” Kurti concluded.
