Matchday: changed Albania side goes for a goal spree in San Marino
Albania plays today the second act in the Nations League. After the 2-0 win over Belarus a few days ago at “Air Albania”, the red-and-blacks face San Marino away today (20:45). An easy match on paper, but one deserving maximum seriousness, because the points are needed — and as many goals as possible.
Finland, Albania’s main rival in the group for first place, scored seven against San Marino, so our team needs a goal-spree win to have no regrets in the final calculations.
Coach Rolando Maran is expected to make several changes for today’s match — both to rest some important starters and to give other players in his squad room to show their value. But without breaking the team’s balance, because the result is primary and there is no time for experiments.
Berisha is expected in goal again, while the defense will most likely see changes. Hysaj and Pilo are thought to start from the bench, making way for Sina and Mitaj respectively. For Samuele Sina it would be a debut in the red-and-black shirt. Captain Gjimshiti and Ismajli stay put.
Ramadani may rest in midfield, where Shehu is expected to line up alongside Asllani. Uzuni is expected to get a starter’s shirt today, between midfield and attack.
Ernest Muçi, after the goal scored against Belarus and a good performance, is expected to start again from the first minute. Mehmeti has a chance of taking Hoxha’s place on the left wing of the attack, while at the top of the forward line will be one of Manaj and Daku, with the former favored.
