876 kilos of tobacco and 118,000 suspected contraband cigarettes seized in Prizren

The Anti-Smuggling Unit of Kosovo Customs has seized 876 kilograms of tobacco and 118,000 cigarettes suspected of being contraband during an operation carried out at several warehouse premises in Prizren, as Telegrafi reports.

According to the Customs announcement, the operation was launched based on information secured from the field. During the inspection, Klan Kosova reports, officers found 791 kilograms of packaged shredded tobacco and 85 kilograms of unpackaged shredded tobacco.

Also seized were 21,000 “Marble”-brand cigarettes without an excise stamp and 97,000 cigarettes carrying Bosnian-Herzegovinian stamps but lacking the Republic of Kosovo stamp.

The person responsible for the premises where the goods were found was arrested and, by order of the prosecutor, taken into detention. The seized goods have been placed in storage under customs supervision, while the case is being investigated in cooperation with the competent Prosecutor’s Office, Telegrafi reports.
