Mickoski and Western Balkan Leaders Meet Kallas in New York: Regional Challenges and the European Path in Focus

NEW YORK – The Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, together with the leaders of the Western Balkan countries, held a meeting in New York with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the United Nations General Assembly session.

The news was announced by Prime Minister Mickoski himself through a post on the social network Facebook, where he emphasized that the meeting exchanged views on current regional challenges, opportunities for further strengthening cooperation, and shared priorities aimed at a stable, secure and prosperous region.

The Macedonian prime minister is participating in the proceedings of the UN General Assembly in New York. Earlier he took part in the summit of European Union and Western Balkan leaders, and held a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenković.

During his stay in New York, Mickoski also took part in the high-level panel discussion titled “Reaffirming the promise of peace: using the power we have,” organized by the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, which discussed the importance of peace, dialogue, responsible leadership and the role of states and international institutions in facing global challenges. Mickoski also held a conversation with President Stubb, in which the importance of respecting international law, strong multilateral cooperation, and the need to build a sustainable and secure Europe was emphasized.

“Macedonia remains a committed partner in efforts for peace, stability and cooperation, as a NATO member and a country strategically oriented toward European integration,” Prime Minister Mickoski wrote on Facebook.
