Migrant boat capsizes in the English Channel, 3 dead

Three people lost their lives on Monday after a boat attempting to cross the English Channel toward Britain capsized off the coast of France, local authorities announced.

The boat capsized near Wissant, in France’s Pas-de-Calais region, the prefecture said, according to French broadcaster BFMTV.

Authorities said they were still assessing the death toll and warned the figure could change. The prefecture was expected to give more details during a press conference on Monday.
