Nagavci on Sejdiu’s withdrawal: ‘A pity that prominent figures are prevented from contributing’
Vetëvendosje Movement MP Arbërie Nagavci has spoken about the withdrawal of Professor Bekim Sejdiu’s candidacy for the post of president.
Nagavci said it is a pity that prominent figures who could contribute to the country are prevented from doing so because of partisan or narrow-group grudges.
“Regarding other issues, as a Movement in relation to Professor Bekim Sejdiu’s resignation from the post we have had a public statement, you know our stance. It is truly a pity that prominent figures who are able to give their contribution to the country are prevented from doing so beyond mainly partisan or narrow-group grudges. As a Movement, of course we are extremely interested in having the post of president filled as soon as possible with a president who will carry out this duty, and of course what is in our mandate we will continue to do,” Nagavci said.
Regarding the Constitutional Court’s decision and the cases sent to this institution, Nagavci said such a situation is moving the country from one blockade to another.
“I believe this is another step to move us from one blockade to another. It is clear that the Assembly had to be constituted as soon as possible, and the government voted as well. Meanwhile, we have the stance of a party which, as we are all witnesses, every day insisted that the Assembly must be constituted, and the moment this was achieved, they found a loophole to block the country once again. I do not think this is in the country’s interest and this approach is wrong,” she said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Albin Kurti has not responded regarding Bekim Sejdiu’s withdrawal from the presidential candidacy.
Asked how they will act after Sejdiu’s withdrawal, Kurti said they are there for the MICS 2025 report.
“We are for the MICS 2025 report,” he said briefly. /kp/
