‘No to boycotting Parliament — let’s confront the regime’: Berisha convenes DP leadership, says Rama has lost legitimacy

Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha convened the party’s leadership on Wednesday afternoon, stressing that the state has fallen into the hands of the mafia and that the opposition will not boycott Parliament — accusing the government of the AKSHI and security scandals, including the arrest warrant for SHISH chief Vlora Hyseni.

During his speech, the DP leader said Prime Minister Edi Rama’s regime had taken very heavy blows, adding that it had lost all legitimacy to govern.

“We are meeting at a time when the narco-state regime, the regime of Edi Rama, has taken the heaviest blows in its entire existence. The greatest discrediting. It has lost all legitimacy to govern this country. It is today the most disgraced government in Europe and beyond. Every day more and more this regime has been proven to be as we have presented it — the first and only narco-state in Europe. It has been established as the country in which the rule of law has been replaced by the state of the mafia and drugs. It has been established as the regime in which the drug cartels, which pose a great danger not only to Albanians but to the region, Europe and the Western Hemisphere, have lost again every right to govern this country. The DP has tried to present the truth of Albania to Albanians and the international community,” Berisha said.

Berisha also spoke about the arrest warrant for Vlora Hyseni, saying she had stolen a state’s most precious thing — what is called national security.

The DP leader added that AKSHI is the most dangerous mafia group in Europe because, according to him, it was placed by order of Edi Rama.

“The chain of scandals, this regime’s black book, unfolds every week a new, ever uglier chapter. If one Lubia has stolen hundreds and hundreds of millions of euros, the other Lubia of the SHIK has stolen a state’s most precious thing, a nation’s most precious thing — what is called national security. By the Constitution, by the laws, the person most directly responsible for national security and state secrets turns out to be an ugly member of a structured criminal group that we have rightly called the most dangerous mafia group in Europe. The AKSHI mafia group is the most dangerous mafia group in Europe because it was placed, by order of Edi Rama, in full and total control of the internet and internet communication for Albanians and foreigners on the territory of the Republic of Albania. Meanwhile Berisha also spoke about the protest, saying that the Democrats’ support for this boulevard rally is a major duty.

“Let’s confront this regime with the greatest efficiency, let’s make efforts to support the protest, typical in its character, which is dragging Edi Rama every night through the streets and squares of Tirana. In the moral sense, since physically it is an unburied corpse that stays in power by the force of gangs. Supporting the boulevard protest is a major duty. And I, and all of us together, recognize it great merit,” Berisha added.

During the DP leadership meeting, Sali Berisha ruled out boycotting Parliament.

He said this would give Edi Rama an advantage, adding that the DP’s parliamentary group would give the “deserved response.”

“Today the DP must undertake all its efforts for Rama’s removal and the overthrow of his regime. The time calls on every Democrat today, all our supporters, to rise to their feet and confront this regime by all democratic means. The easiest decision would be to boycott parliament, but I have been and remain convinced that this would be an advantage for Edi Rama. Let each of us be clear that he is fighting for his existence, since he knows there is no place for him other than a cell with decades of prison for the crimes he has committed. He is capable of anything to preserve his power and career. The parliamentary group will adapt to give the deserved response. In parliament we are in difficult conditions, but we must give the strongest responses in parliament,” Berisha said.
