New round of US–Iran talks in New York with Qatari mediation: Araghchi met Witkoff and Kushner

The Iranian foreign ministry said a new round of indirect talks with the United States took place in New York, with Qatar mediating between the two sides.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met on Tuesday in New York with US special envoy Steve Witkoff and with President Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner. According to Tehran, the meeting lasted about two hours, during which the parties exchanged positions and conditions.

Iran’s conditions, restated at the meeting, include an end to all American acts of aggression — among them the naval blockade and economic warfare — an end to the war on all fronts, the release of frozen Iranian assets, and the acceptance of a safe navigation route agreed between Iran and Oman.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that a deal with Tehran would require hard work over a period of time, adding that President Trump has “a range of options available, including military options”.
