Premier Sports renews NHL broadcast rights through the 2028–29 season

Premier Sports has signed a new agreement extending its broadcast rights for the American hockey league through the 2028–29 season, offering 15 live matches every week during the regular season and the playoffs to viewers in the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom.

As the NHL reports, the deal provides exclusivity in broadcasts throughout the season and opens its schedule with several early matches: Carolina Hurricanes vs. Florida Panthers (29 September), Montreal Canadiens vs. Toronto Maple Leafs (30 September), Vancouver Canucks vs. Edmonton Oilers (30 September), New York Islanders vs. Toronto Maple Leafs (1 October) and LA Kings vs. Colorado Avalanche (1 October).

Premier Sports will also continue to offer coverage of domestic hockey leagues, including Motorpoint Elite League matches during the autumn. Richard Sweeney, CEO of Premier Sports, said they were delighted that the renewal ensured subscribers continuity and access to the best matches from one of the world’s leading leagues.

The renewal underscores the long-term presence of sports channels in the British and Irish market and serves to strengthen the network’s hockey offering; the announcement was published by the NHL.
