Poland reinforces border with Ukraine after Russian drone strikes; Denmark: Russian frigate fired flares at our military helicopter

Poland has begun reinforcing security at its border with Ukraine following Russian drone strikes near border crossings. Soldiers of the 18th Engineer Regiment are already on the ground strengthening Border Guard infrastructure and crossing points near the Ukrainian border.

Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced the move on platform X, writing that “the last few days show that Russia’s actions threaten the security of all of Europe.” The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed on Tuesday two strikes near the Polish border, claiming the hit train was carrying military cargo.

In parallel, Denmark denounced as “unacceptable” an incident with a Russian frigate in international waters. A Danish military helicopter was conducting a routine photographing of the Russian ship on Monday when two emergency flares were fired at it. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha expressed solidarity with Denmark, declaring that “Moscow continues its efforts to destabilize Europe, not just Denmark.”

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said on Monday that the strikes near NATO territory reflect Putin’s “desperation” and his desire “to sow fear and terror,” pledging the alliance will strengthen its defense along the border with Russia and Belarus.

A new detail emerged over Lithuania: Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said an Italian NATO fighter jet shot down the drone that had entered Lithuanian airspace, a drone that “very likely came from Russia.”

The tensions come after Sunday’s strike on the train near Yahodyn and U.S. President Trump’s proposal for a reciprocal ban on attacks on energy infrastructure.
