Security measures to be reviewed! After the vote in Parliament, a deadline for those in prison (VIDEO)

The amendment to the Criminal Procedure Code will give all persons under the measure of imprisonment the opportunity to request and obtain release, while the investigation against them continues.

According to the now official document, it will be the persons in cells themselves who will request a review of the security measure, immediately as soon as the law is adopted in Parliament and enters into force.

The court must verify the compliance of the security measures within two months.

Priority in examination is given to requests and verifications mainly related to the measure of imprisonment. These must be examined within three days of their submission or initiation. The priority and the three-day deadline apply to all cases where the legal basis for imprisonment is no longer permitted under this law, as A2 CNN writes. For other cases, the verification deadline will be one month.

But prosecutors themselves can also propose lifting the security measure. Prosecutors who find that a security measure no longer complies with the criteria set out in this Code must, without delay, submit to the competent court a request for its revocation or replacement.

However, the draft law stresses that the acts and evidence obtained by the prosecution before the law enters into force will not be affected. They can be used in any ongoing or subsequent proceedings, regardless of the different arrangements that the amendments to the law will bring.
