Sejdiu Withdraws, Osmani With a Strong Message: Politics Passes, Character Remains

Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) MP Vjosa Osmani has reacted after Bekim Sejdiu’s withdrawal from the candidacy for President of Kosovo, saying he deserves thanks for his readiness to serve the country.

Osmani also praised the way Sejdiu handled the process, in which, according to her, personal issues were often placed above institutional ones.

“Bekim Sejdiu deserves thanks. Not only for his readiness to serve the country, but also for the way he handled a process in which the personal was often placed above the institutional,” Osmani wrote.

According to her, Kosovo has lost an opportunity not only to elect a president, but also to show that it can build consensus around people with knowledge, integrity and dignity.

“Perhaps this is precisely where our greatest loss lies: not only did we fail to elect the President, but we also lost another opportunity to show that in Kosovo we can build consensus around people with knowledge, integrity and dignity,” Osmani stated.

She stressed that politics and electoral processes are temporary, while the way a person behaves in difficult moments remains important.

“Politics passes. Campaigns end. Elections repeat. But the way a person behaves when put to the test remains,” Osmani wrote.

According to her, even a political effort that does not end in success can leave behind an important testimony of character.

“And sometimes, even when a political effort does not end in success, it leaves behind something more important: a testimony of character,” she emphasized.

In conclusion, Osmani thanked Sejdiu for his readiness to serve the Republic and for his stance throughout the process.

“Therefore, thank you Bekim, for your readiness to serve the Republic and for the dignity you showed until the end,” Osmani concluded. /Telegrafi/
