Six candidates in the race for mayor of the Municipality of Brvenica
The deadline for submitting candidate lists for the extraordinary elections for mayor of the Municipality of Brvenica expired last night at midnight, the State Election Commission announced.
According to the SEC, a total of six candidate lists were submitted within the foreseen deadline, four of which were proposed by political coalitions, while two by voter groups.
Jovica Radeski will run for the post of mayor of the Municipality of Brvenica, as the candidate of the coalition for the extraordinary local elections of 2026, led by SDSM, together with NSDP, the Democratic Action Party of Macedonia, the Party for Democratic Prosperity of the Roma and Desnica.
Jakup Useini is the candidate of the VLEN coalition, Stojanço Radieski is the candidate of the “Your Macedonia” coalition, while Arkin Jahiji is running for the National Alliance for Integration (NAI).
Two candidates of voter groups are also in the race. Arife Idrizi is the candidate of the voter group bearing her name, while Dushan Bogdanovski is the candidate of the voter group “Dushan Bogdanovski.”
The extraordinary elections for mayor of the Municipality of Brvenica are scheduled for October 18, after the then mayor of the municipality, Ivica Ilievski, passed away on June 23, 2026, at the age of 58.
Now, after the expiry of the deadline for submitting candidacies, Brvenica officially enters a race with six candidates for leading the municipality.
