Smuggling migrants near the Greek border: two arrested

Two people were handcuffed by police near the border with Greece. Their arrest came after they were caught in the act transporting six illegal migrants who intended to cross into EU countries.

In connection with this operation, the migrants were also prosecuted criminally. The two vehicles with which the two arrested men were transporting the migrants were also seized.

Two citizens were arrested who were caught near the border with Greece and attempted to transport, for payment, with two vehicles, six migrants who intended to cross into EU countries.

Six migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and India were prosecuted criminally, after having entered Albanian territory illegally. The two vehicles with which the migrants were to be transported were seized.

The services of the Saranda Border Police Commissariat, in continuation of controls and investigative work to prevent and combat the criminal activity of aiding foreign citizens for illegal border crossing, based also on information obtained through operational channels, organized and finalized the coded operation ‘Kufijtë’.

During this operation, the citizens A. D., 50, and F. Ç., 59, residents of Tirana, were arrested. These two citizens were caught by the Border Police services at the place called ‘Pagane’, near the border line with the Greek state, with two vehicles with which they would transport, for payment, six foreign citizens who intended to cross the border illegally, to go to European Union countries.

In continuation of the procedural actions, the six migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and India were prosecuted criminally, after having illegally crossed the land border with Greece. The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor’s Office for further action,” the police announced.
