Major Blaze Engulfs Lalzi Bay Area

A large fire has engulfed the Shën Pjetër area in Lalzi Bay. The rapid spread of the flames has been aided by strong winds.

The firefighting units of the Municipality of Durrës and emergency services intervened immediately on the ground and have been continuing an intensive operation for several hours to bring the situation under control and prevent the fire from spreading further. For safety reasons and to protect citizens’ lives, all persons in a tourist complex and a private home near the danger zone were immediately evacuated.

This massive operation has engaged extensive human and logistical capacity at regional and national level.
