Students in Serbia launch “Priloži za pobedu” campaign — fundraising for the election campaign
Students of the Student List launched today the “Priloži za pobedu” (Contribute to victory) campaign, a fundraising drive for the October 25 parliamentary elections in Serbia. The campaign starts in Novi Sad, where students will have their stand at Žitni trg (Grain Square) starting at 17:00.
Donations are possible only through a current bank account — volunteers at the stand will explain to citizens the simplest way to support them. As a citizens’ group, the students have a current account where donations can be deposited; the app that will simplify the process is expected to be ready soon. Citizens can also contribute at bank counters, but must first fill out and sign a declaration — the forms will be distributed at the stands.
Cash donations are not allowed, due to strict political campaign financing procedures. No donation can be deposited into the account without the completed and signed declaration. The procedure is not complicated, but it is strict: every donation must be linked to a natural or legal person, so that the origin of the money is known.
Students say citizens’ interest in donating is high — “especially the 6,000 dinars the state is handing out to buy votes,” they said. The campaign comes after the Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) officially proclaimed the “Students Win” Student List, which ranks third on the ballot.
