Tarantino publishes novel “The Adventures of Cliff Booth”: book out December 8, between IMAX premiere and Netflix debut

Quentin Tarantino will publish his second novel, “The Adventures of Cliff Booth,” on December 8, 2026, via Harper (HarperCollins), in hardcover, audiobook and digital editions. The book is the novelization of the new film “The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth,” for which Tarantino wrote the original screenplay, with David Fincher directing.

Brad Pitt returns in the lead role as Cliff Booth — the charismatic stuntman for whom the actor won his first acting Oscar in 2020. Both the novel and the film are set in 1977 Hollywood, eight years after the events of “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” (2019).

According to the official synopsis, the ’60s era has passed — but Clifford Booth goes on… war hero, stuntman, bartender, cinema projectionist… with occasional “clandestine” services for friends. The film will get an exclusive two-day IMAX premiere starting November 25, before arriving on Netflix on December 23.

The cast also includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Peter Weller. The production budget is reportedly around $200 million — more than double the original film’s $90 million, which earned over $400 million worldwide and received 10 Oscar nominations, winning two of them.

This is Tarantino’s second novel after the bestselling novelization of “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” (2021) and the nonfiction work “Cinema Speculation” (2022). Meanwhile the director continues to resist the temptation of his tenth film, dedicating himself to literature, podcasts, acting and a new drama for the London stage in 2027.
