Tehran – Iran: We will strike U.S. bases and warships if Washington launches a ground invasion
TEHRAN, 5 October /ATSH-AA/ – Iran will strike all U.S. military bases and American ships if Washington launches a ground invasion of the country, a senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned.
The head of the advisory group to the IRGC commander-in-chief, Ali Fadavi, made these statements late on Sunday during an appearance on a television programme of the Iranian state broadcaster.
“If the Americans launch a ground attack, then we will strike every facility linked to the Americans, American bases and every ship linked to the Americans,” he said. Fadavi argued that the U.S. understands military force, saying that the Americans “understand missiles hitting their warships” and “missiles hitting their bases”.
He said that Iran’s production of military equipment exceeds the pace at which it is being used, claiming that the country’s current capacities have increased significantly compared to the two previous wars.
Referring to the Strait of Hormuz, Fadavi said that Iran and Oman must draft and implement rules for managing this strategic waterway, adding that such rules have already been prepared and are being implemented.
He warned that American ships would be vulnerable to Iranian attacks if Washington deployed them to the region. “The Americans can create tensions only through the air and, of course, the increase in tensions will be to the Americans’ detriment,” he said.
Fadavi said that Iran “in no way has attacked a Muslim country”, arguing that Tehran has instead targeted American military bases located in those countries.
