The breakout stars of WWE and AEW in 2026
The year 2026 brought a significant rise of new names on the wrestling scene, as WWE and AEW gave opportunities to several talents who became household names within months. Both companies needed fresh blood, and many of the most visible rises came after promotions and rivalries that put these names in the spotlight.
As Bleacher Report reports, the ranking includes names that rose rapidly during the year, from Oba Femi, who became one of the main figures on WWE’s roster, to Thekla, who dominated AEW’s women’s division, and to names like Trick Williams and Kevin Knight, who won titles and happened to be built as future headliners.
Oba Femi made a swift transition from struggling to stand out on the main screens to the status of one of the hottest talents in WWE within weeks, while Trick Williams rose by becoming United States Champion after a series of powerful performances and public appearances that won massive audience reaction.
Thekla used the openings in AEW to transform herself into one of the central figures of the women’s division; she held and defended important titles, imposed a strong presence on the microphone and in the ring, and returned as the main contender even after losing the title before All In.
Kevin Knight and Andrade El Idolo had defining years: Knight consolidated his solo career by holding and defending the TNT title, while Andrade won the AEW National Title and secured a shot at the main title after winning the Casino Gauntlet. Sol Ruca and Je Von Evans were also confirmed as rising names, with Ruca’s successes in WWE’s women’s division and Evans’ progress from NXT to the main stages and title rivalries.
Maya World consolidated her position in AEW after a successful run in tournaments and won the TBS title, before losing it to Persephone. Among others who drew attention and were mentioned as special cases were Jacy Jane, Royce Keys, Tommaso Ciampa and Ethan Page, who contributed to the diversity of both companies’ scenes.
In summary, the ranked names show that WWE and AEW are renewing their ranks and building new headliners for the years to come; this picture of changes and rapid rises is also part of the assessment in the Bleacher Report article.
