Tirana to host the EU-Albania Stabilization and Association Committee on September 21–22

The EU–Albania Stabilization and Association Committee will be held on September 21–22 in Tirana.

On Monday and Tuesday, ECR MEPs Chiara Gemma, vice-chair of the EU–Albania SAPC, and Cristian Terheș will take part in the committee’s 22nd meeting in Tirana, writes A2.

“Albania has made considerable progress in the accession negotiations and has already opened all six negotiating cluster chapters. The ECR Group supports the country’s European path and considers Albania an important partner for regional security and stability, including through its role as a NATO member. At the same time, further progress toward EU membership must be based on the effective implementation of reforms. Particular attention must be paid to strengthening the rule of law, ensuring the proper implementation of adopted legislation and reducing political polarization. The pace of accession must reflect the quality and concrete implementation of reforms,” the statement reads.
