Protest Against the Specialist Court Verdict: Kosovo Police Warn of Measures Over Dangerous Driving

Kosovo Police announced that they have engaged their capacities to ensure the smooth running of the protest announced for tonight at 21:00 in Pristina’s central square, as well as to manage road traffic.

According to the Police, after peaceful protests in the capital, some participants continued to drive through the streets of Pristina, engaging in uncontrolled and dangerous driving.

Several people got out and stood in the windows or on top of moving vehicles, endangering themselves and other traffic participants, including pedestrians, the Police said.

“Police actions on the ground are exclusively about preventing the dangerous and uncontrolled driving of several vehicles after the protests,” the Police statement said.

The Police dismissed claims spread on social media that citizens are being stopped or punished because of KLA flags.

“The Kosovo Police has not stopped, punished, or used violence against any citizen because of national historical symbols or KLA symbols, but because of legal violations,” the statement said.

The Police said its engagements aim to guarantee citizens’ safety, the peaceful and safe running of the protest, traffic management, and the prevention of dangerous driving.
