«Tri-City Herald» recommends Tirana among European cities to visit this fall

– Tirana is gaining more and more attention as one of the European cities that can be explored on an affordable budget, especially in the fall, when tourist numbers and prices tend to drop, writes Camilla Foster in an article published in the American media outlet “Tri-City Herald”.

The Albanian capital is included in a list of five European destinations recommended for this season, thanks to its colorful atmosphere, history and the various neighborhoods that can be discovered on foot.

Fall is considered the ideal period to visit some of Europe’s most beautiful cities, in a calmer atmosphere and away from the large influx of tourists created during the summer season.

September and October are often considered the shoulder season, as visitor numbers drop and tourists can find more favorable deals.

Travel expert and head of operations at the travel platform “Transfer Travel”, Laura Carden-Lovell, explains that in this period flight and hotel prices can drop significantly.

However, she advises tourists to also consider other expenses, which can add up quickly.

According to her, it is important to also calculate the cost of getting around the city to be visited.

She estimates that cities that can be easily explored on foot are especially suitable for short trips, as visitors can see many places without spending on transport.

Rental car prices also usually drop during the fall season, compared to the summer months.

Carden-Lovell adds that many lesser-known destinations in Europe, especially in the Balkans, have become increasingly popular thanks to social media.

According to her, videos about affordable European cities have appeared more and more often lately on TikTok and Instagram, influencing the growing interest in these destinations.

She emphasizes that social media gives visitors a quick idea of what they can see and do in a given destination, so platforms like TikTok and Instagram can also serve as inspiration for planning holidays.

For those who have been waiting for the right opportunity for a short, last-minute trip to a European city, the article proposes five affordable and photogenic destinations to consider this season.

The article lists five European cities as affordable destinations to discover this season: Tirana in Albania, Sarajevo in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Sofia in Bulgaria, Tallinn in Estonia and Riga in Latvia.

Tirana, Albania

According to Carden-Lovell, Tirana is a bright, colorful city with a rich history.

She notes that Albania is one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations in Europe, so the capital, Tirana, has become increasingly popular.

The city includes many different and interesting areas to explore, where modern and dynamic culture intertwines with a distinctive history linked to the communist and Ottoman periods.

Carden-Lovell advises visitors to start exploring from Skanderbeg Square, the main square in the center of Tirana, which requires no payment to visit and explore.

She then suggests continuing toward Blloku, one of the liveliest areas of the city, where visitors can stop at various cafes and enjoy the neighborhood’s atmosphere.
