Two arrested in Belgrade while trying to set fire to a venue in Vračar
Serbian police arrested two men suspected of being members of the “Vračarci” criminal gang, after they attempted to set fire to a venue in Belgrade’s Vračar neighborhood on Tuesday morning. Arrested were Z.J., 52, from Kostolac, and A.R., 21, from the Belgrade outskirts.
According to Serbia’s Interior Ministry, police caught them red-handed: at the moment when, according to the suspicions, they smashed the venue’s door glass with a stone to get inside, sprayed flammable liquid from a canister, and then set the interior of the premises on fire.
Both men will be kept in police detention and handed over to the competent prosecutor with a criminal report for “causing general danger” and “producing and procuring means for committing a criminal offense.”
The incident occurred this morning in Vračar, one of the central neighborhoods of the Serbian capital. Investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of the event are ongoing.
