Ukrainian Forces Strike Oil Refinery in Syzran, Russia, and Ozon Warehouse in Taganrog
Ukrainian forces struck the oil refinery in the city of Syzran, in Russia’s Samara region, overnight between Sunday and Monday, sparking fires at several points in the complex. According to the Telegram channel Exilenova Plus, which tracks drone strikes deep inside Russian territory, flames spread across several areas of the refinery after the strike.
Samara Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said more than 40 Ukrainian drones were downed overnight over the region’s territory. According to him, an industrial facility was damaged by the attack, while windows were broken in several residential buildings.
In southern Russia, in Taganrog, Ukrainian missiles struck a warehouse of the online retailer Ozon, reported Rostov Governor Yuri Slyusar. He said windows were broken in two residential buildings, while three houses, an educational institution, a gas pipeline, a commercial building, a grocery store and the warehouses of an agricultural company were damaged.
The details of the attacks could not be independently verified immediately by The Kyiv Independent. Kyiv regularly strikes military and oil infrastructure deep inside Russian territory in an effort to weaken Moscow’s ability to continue the war. A night earlier, Ukrainian drones had struck Sochi on the Black Sea coast, as well as energy infrastructure in occupied Mariupol.
