Unprecedented in Yzberisht: two groups of 23 minors clash violently with baseball bats — police prevent tragedy

A major conflict among minors was prevented in Yzberisht, Tirana, following the immediate intervention of the Police.

Twenty-three youths, aged 13 to 17, were criminally prosecuted, while two baseball bats were seized by officers.

Police announcement:

“The immediate intervention of the services of Police Station No. 6 prevents a conflict among dozens of minors in Yzberisht. Twenty-three citizens aged 13–17, who were to be involved in the conflict, are criminally prosecuted. Two baseball bats are seized.

Immediately after securing information that dozens of minors would clash on ‘Besim Alla’ street, the services of Police Station No. 6 went to the reported area to prevent the incident.

Officers found several minors equipped with baseball bats to be used during the conflict. They were escorted to the Station’s premises and, subsequently, the other minors who were to be involved in this conflict were also identified and escorted.

Upon completion of the investigative and procedural actions, carried out in the presence of parents and a psychologist, the materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office, where criminal proceedings began in a state of liberty for the 23 minors. The hard objects were also seized.

Tirana Police remains maximally engaged in preventing conflicts among minors and young people, which, although they start over weak motives, can escalate into serious criminal events. To fulfill this priority objective, we seek the intensive cooperation of parents, relatives, friends and teachers of minors, who observe in daily life and in the digital space indications of such events among peers.
