Vlora Hyseni Under House Arrest; Democratic Party Demands Debate with Rama in Parliament

The Democratic Party has requested that at this Thursday’s session of the Albanian Parliament, the interpellations with the ministers of Environment and Education be cancelled and that a debate with Prime Minister Edi Rama on the case of State Intelligence Service (SHISH) director Vlora Hyseni be placed on the agenda.

“In line with its role and functions, the Parliament of Albania should urgently demand from Prime Minister Edi Rama information and explanations on the selection of citizen Vlora Hyseni for this duty, bearing in mind her problematic record in the Republic of Kosovo, as well as her activity at the helm of the State Intelligence Service, debate institutional responsibilities, and assess the adoption of the necessary measures to prevent such phenomena in the future,” the request filed by the DP parliamentary group states, reports A2 CNN.

Two days ago, the Special Court imposed the security measures of “house arrest” and “suspension from duty” on SHISH chief Vlora Hyseni, as, according to SPAK, she is involved in the AKSHI case. She is suspected of the criminal offenses of “aiding the perpetrator of a crime” and “disclosure of state secrets.”

Following this Court decision, Rama dismissed Hyseni from duty and appointed Elvis Lila at the helm of SHISH.
