Vučić accuses Đukanović of directly interfering in Serbia’s elections: ‘They’re nervous’
Aleksandar Vučić, the bearer of the “United Serbia” list and Serbia’s former president, on Tuesday directly accused former Montenegrin president Milo Đukanović of interfering in Serbia’s parliamentary elections of 25 October. He made the strong statement during his campaign tour in eastern Serbia, arriving at around 11:00 in the village of Leskovc near Zaječar to meet citizens and journalists, as Niš TV reports.
According to Vučić, not only Đukanović but also Croatian and Bosnian agencies are “nervous” about the election outcome. “From Montenegro they have always governed Belgrade” on behalf of criminal clans, he said, claiming large sums are being spent on campaign spots. As Niš TV reports, he also warned of new moves to be expected from “Zvicer”, who operates through his “potrčko” Medenica.
Vučić harshly attacked the opposition for refusing debate and dialogue — his invitation to a duel with the student list’s top candidate was rejected, he said — and called on citizens to vote responsibly on 25 October. He also spoke about attacks on his parents: “every honest man would slap him, but you mustn’t do it — this shows how nervous they are,” he added, as Niš TV reports.
Vučić continued his eastern Serbia tour on a politically heated day, without pausing on Belgrade mayor Aleksandar Šapić’s verbal clash with a councillor — a topic covered in a separate article earlier today.
