Vučić: Kosovo the Toughest Issue of My Career — Last Two Years Among the Hardest Over ‘Colour Revolution’ Bid

Serbian President and the bearer of the “United Serbia” list for the parliamentary elections, Aleksandar Vučić, has declared that Kosovo and Metohija has been the most difficult issue he has faced during his political career. The statement was made in the op-ed “My 30 Years in Politics”, published in today’s issue of the “Blic” newspaper on the occasion of its 30th anniversary.

According to him, the last two years have been “among the most difficult years of his political life”, because of what he describes as an attempt at a “colour revolution and hybrid war against Serbia”.

Vučić writes that he has worked all along to preserve peace, but without ever humiliating Serbia. He mentions the pressures he says he has faced — over Srebrenica, the war in Ukraine and demands for sanctions against Russia.

In the op-ed, the Serbian president also recalls his beginnings in politics: joining the Serbian Radical Party in 1993 at the age of 23, as well as his post as information minister in 1998. He admits he would do many things differently today.

Vučić adds that he is perhaps among the few Serbian politicians who have spent almost as much time in power as in opposition.
