13-year-old girl dies, death toll from school attack in Slovakia rises to 2

A 13-year-old pupil, who was hospitalised with serious injuries after being stabbed by a peer at a school in the town of Staskov, died from the wounds she sustained. The death toll from the attack in Slovakia rises to two.

“Unfortunately, despite the doctors’ great efforts, it was not possible to save the young girl’s life,” said the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies, Richard Rushie.

Education Minister Thomas Drucker expressed his condolences to the family of the 13-year-old, Nela.

According to Slovak media, the suspected attacker is around 14 years old, an eighth-grade pupil at the primary school. He is accused of stabbing teachers and classmates at a school in the town of Staskov on Tuesday morning.

A 61-year-old teacher was killed, while a seriously injured 13-year-old pupil was transported by helicopter to hospital. A 44-year-old teacher with a stab wound to the chest was also sent to hospital and is said to be out of danger.
