‘Accept the ruling, because there is an appeal,’ Çitaku replies to allies: ‘You even compared Thaçi to George Washington’

Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) MP Vlora Çitaku reacted after the Special Court’s verdict against former president Hashim Thaçi and other former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

In a Facebook post, Çitaku criticized what she called “Hashim Thaçi’s historic allies,” who, according to her, have begun calling for the verdict to be accepted, relying on the possibility of appeal.

“It seems Hashim Thaçi’s historic allies have started to react. Those with whom he worked from day one. Those with whom, together, we achieved many successes and historic moments.

And now they seem to have started telling us: accept the verdict, because there is an appeal… Thank you very much,” she wrote.

Çitaku said that for her and her colleagues, Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi are not simply people with whom they cooperated during a certain historic period.

“For us, they are part of our history. They are part of the foundations on which our state was built. They are the people with whom one of the most important chapters of Kosovo’s freedom is linked,” the PDK MP declared.

She opposed the calls to accept the verdict, stressing that the process will continue through opposition and resistance.

“So, thank you very much for the advice.

But no.

We do not accept this verdict.

We will oppose it. We will resist.

Until the end.
