Croatia, Modric: The first time in 20 years that I feel ashamed after a match

“It is hard to find an explanation for such a performance, without duels, fouls, aggression or cohesion… I have been here for 20 years, but this is the first time I feel ashamed after a match. You can lose, sometimes the opponent is stronger, and at the moment they are, but to lose in this way and to waste the reputation we have built over the years is unacceptable. I truly feel ashamed.”

That was the harsh comment of Luka Modrić, Croatia’s leader and icon, after the heavy 0-7 defeat to England.
