Egypt Condemns Houthi Attacks on Riyadh “in the Strongest Terms”: Full Support for Saudi Arabia
Egypt condemned “in the strongest terms” Sunday morning’s attacks on Riyadh, describing them as a “flagrant violation” of Saudi Arabia’s security and stability and of international law. This was stated in an Egyptian Foreign Ministry declaration, cited by Al Jazeera.
According to the declaration, Cairo sees the attacks as a “dangerous escalation” that could raise regional tensions and further destabilize the region.
The ministry emphasized that Egypt “categorically rejects” any attempt to undermine Saudi Arabia’s security or sovereignty.
Egypt expressed full solidarity with the Saudi kingdom and supported any measure Saudi Arabia takes to preserve its security, stability, and territorial integrity — adding that “the security of Saudi Arabia and Egypt is indivisible.”
The condemnation comes after a weekend of Iran-backed Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia: the Saudi army announced that air defense had intercepted a ballistic missile launched toward Riyadh, while air-raid alarms were issued for the first time since July in the capital, as well as in Jeddah and Yanbu.
