Lebanese prime minister: Lebanon stands with Gulf states against Iranian attacks

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam declared that Lebanon stands with the Gulf states facing Iranian attacks and supports every regional effort to end the escalation. The statement was made during his address to the UN General Assembly in New York, as reported by Al Jazeera.
“Lebanon renews its solidarity with the states of the region — especially the Gulf — in the face of attacks that target their sovereignty and security,” Salam said. “The effects of these attacks are not limited to the theaters of confrontation,” he added. “They extend to the security and stability of the entire region.”
The Lebanese prime minister’s statement comes at a time when Iranian-backed Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia have escalated sharply, and when the UN Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the attacks on Saudi civilian targets.
Lebanon itself remains affected by the regional conflict, with continued Israeli strikes in the south of the country and the presence of Israeli forces on Lebanese territory — issues Salam has raised in meetings with world leaders on the margins of the UN.
