Debates over the arrest of the head of the State Intelligence Service (SHISH), Vlora Hyseni, accused of aiding Ergys Agasi during his time on the run and passing him secret information, are expected to dominate today’s plenary session. The opposition has demanded a change to the agenda, seeking a debate on the Hyseni case and accountability from Prime Minister Edi Rama over her appointment to lead SHISH. But the head of government is in the U.S. for the proceedings of the UN General Assembly.

In his address to Parliament, Sali Berisha said Ergys Agasi had all of the state’s secrets under his control, following the revealed link between the businessman and the arrested former director of SHISH, Vlora Hyseni.

Berisha said Hyseni is a member of the most dangerous criminal group, while describing today’s session as historic — the meeting of the most irresponsible parliament.

“This session will go down in history as the most shameful session ever held. Today parliament convenes as the parliament of Ergys Agasi, as the most irresponsible parliament in the entire national history of any country. Today for every Albanian who calls their country a country, security security, the issue of all issues is the total collapse of the country’s security, as the head of the Intelligence Service turns out to be a despicable member of the structured criminal group, Agasi. In this hall I have declared that Ergys Agasi is the most dangerous mafioso in Europe. Yes, because he controlled, like no one else in Albania and Europe, all the drug cartels, the internet of the country’s territory, all the secrets of this state and the National Intelligence Service. He had unlimited power and he had it from the country’s godfather. The Vlora Hyseni case is the third in the world,” Berisha said.

Berisha went on to say that Hyseni’s appointment was an irresponsible act of security. According to him, she was in the service of Vučić and Rama and of crime. According to Berisha, addressing the majority, it was Hyseni who, under Agasi’s direction, made every decision concerning them.

“This deformed character who, after being dismissed from duty in a democratic country for strong reasons, those same reasons bring her as an adviser to the godfather and then to the head of SHISH. Her appointment, outside all criteria, constitutes the most irresponsible act toward the country’s security. Her appointment was absolutely for a dual role. She was a servant of Vučić and Edi Rama. The darkest side is that the person who had the duty of the country’s and citizens’ security collaborated with the henchmen of crime, was a soldier. A member of the most dangerous criminal organization, the person who placed every secret of this state into the hands of gangs, who on Ergys Agasi’s orders dismissed each of you, the person who summoned you to her office. The logic is that the security pyramid has collapsed. Secondly, the state has representations, but the most sensitive representation is that of the service,” Berisha said.
