Luke Evangelista Signs Five-Year, $36.25 Million Deal with New Jersey Devils
Luke Evangelista signed a five-year contract with the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday, worth a total of $36.25 million. The deal carries an average annual value of $7.25 million and takes effect with the 2027-28 season. The 24-year-old forward thus moves into a long-term agreement with the New Jersey club.
According to the NHL, Evangelista was traded to the Devils from the Nashville Predators on September 1 in exchange for a first-round and a second-round pick in the 2028 Draft. He is entering the final season of his two-year contract with Nashville, a deal signed on October 4, 2025, worth $6 million in total with an AAV of $3 million.
Last season, Evangelista scored 56 points (12 goals and 44 assists) in 81 games for Nashville. Selected in the second round, 42nd overall, in the 2020 NHL Draft by the Predators, he has recorded 142 points (45 goals, 97 assists) in 253 regular-season games with Nashville and 1 goal in 6 Stanley Cup playoff games in his career.
As the NHL reports, the contract with the Devils consolidates the club’s expectations to strengthen its attacking corps and will take effect from the 2027-28 season, with Evangelista expected to integrate into the team’s lineup for that campaign.
