‘The Snowman’ comes with a new set at the Peacock Theatre: Sadler’s Wells announces its winter season with ‘Ebony Scrooge’ and Matthew Bourne’s ‘Cinderella’
The well-known London dance and theatre institution Sadler’s Wells has announced its programme of winter shows, which includes three productions on three different stages in the British capital — from the Christmas classic ‘The Snowman’ to the hip-hop adaptation of Dickens, ‘Ebony Scrooge’, as BroadwayWorld reports.
At the Peacock Theatre, Sadler’s Wells’ West End stage, Birmingham Rep’s production of ‘The Snowman’ comes with a completely new set — with costumes designed by Olivier Award winner Tahra Zafar, known for ‘Paddington the Musical’. The show, directed and choreographed by Will Tuckett, will be performed from Saturday, 21 November 2026, to Sunday, 3 January 2027.
At Sadler’s Wells East in Stratford, ‘Ebony Scrooge’ returns, the acclaimed adaptation of Charles Dickens’ famous novel ‘A Christmas Carol’, which blends hip-hop, comedy and physical theatre. The production will be performed from Tuesday, 24 November 2026, to 3 January 2027 — and this time the show’s creator, Dannielle ‘Rhimes’ Lecointe, will take the lead role, in her first dance role in 10 years.
At the Sadler’s Wells Theatre in Angel, the New Adventures company brings back Matthew Bourne’s ‘Cinderella’, as part of the wide 2026-2027 UK tour for the musical’s 30th anniversary — from Tuesday, 1 December 2026, to Sunday, 17 January 2027.
Sadler’s Wells’ streaming platform, Digital Stage, will publish from November a series of winter dance films from the first edition of the Dance Digital festival, while the recording of the 2025 production of ‘Ebony Scrooge’ is already available free of charge for schools and teachers until 31 January 2027.
