Serafimovski: 450,000 vaccines against sheep pox secured from the EU, meeting with livestock farmers next week
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy has secured 450,000 vaccines against sheep and goat pox from the European Union and has obtained permission to use them, as MIA reports.
The minister of the sector, Borçe Serafimovski, announced today that next week the Ministry will hold a meeting with representatives of livestock farmers, where they will agree on the further steps and the possibility of vaccinating livestock.
According to him, livestock farmers affected by the disease will be compensated, while the authorities have warned that securing the vaccines will not automatically mean the start of vaccination — the decision will be taken after assessing the situation.
Sheep pox has caused great damage to flocks in several regions of the country in recent weeks, and livestock farmers have sought urgent intervention from the institutions.
