Major fire at British military base, one injured

One person was taken to hospital after a major fire broke out on Thursday evening at Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire, England.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service sent several crews to an accommodation building at the barracks, which was found fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters also used specialist equipment to bring the blaze under control.

One person was hospitalized due to smoke inhalation. The fire was extinguished overnight, while emergency crews remained at the scene for monitoring and launched an investigation into the cause.

The fire is believed to have started at Gaza Barracks, which houses the headquarters of a British Army regiment.

Catterick is one of the British Army’s main training centers and also hosts key infantry training facilities.
